Putnikovići is a small town in the heart of rocky Pelješac with about 360 inhabitants who are mainly engaged in agriculture, vine growing, fishing and shellfish farming, and in the last 15 years also in tourism.This place is most famous for the Putniković Agricultural Cooperative. It was founded way back in 1911, and today 144 cooperative members from Putniković, Žuljana and Ponikva are included in it. On average, the cooperative, which is reputed to be one of the largest and most successful in Pelješac, annually fills 800,000 to 1 million bottles, around 80 percent of which are acclaimed red wines from Plavac mali.The biggest tourist attraction is certainly the House of Wine Tradition, a new wine story that revives the customs of Pelješac. Old tools, the way of tilling the land, replicas of vineyards, dry walls are just some of the interesting things you can see. Within the museum there is a tasting room with a hall for lectures and presentations.
